Lanzarote

Timanfaya - Fire Mountains

If you haven't been to Lanzarote before, be warned it's one of those places that you will fall in love with and want to return again & again.

Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands, situated just off the coast of Africa. Most visitors fly here, our airport is Arrecife (ACE) and a 2.5 hour connection from Madrid or within a 4 hour flight from most airports in UK & Ireland.

We enjoy an enviable climate, probably the best in the world as our average daytime temperatures range from 20-30°C throughout the year. There's plenty of sunshine to replenish any vitamin D deficiency with around 8 hours per day. It occasionally rains during the winter months, although not for long, our annual rainfall is around 125-150 mm per year.

There are over 100 beaches to choose from in Lanzarote, most tourists flock to the East coast holiday resorts of Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca where you can find golden sandy beaches with sunbeds, lifeguards and watersport activities. The surfers however head for the West coast and the stunning beach in Famara

This island is different from the larger Canary Islands, tourism still started back in the 1960's but the development was slower with low rise white washed properties built, thanks to César Manrique. Over 40% of Lanzarote's landscape is still protected, the island was declared a Biosphere Reserve in 1993 bringing international recognition for our development model, which focussed on cultural conservation and protection of the environment.

It takes about an hour to drive from one end of Lanzarote to the other, the island is 60 km from Orzola in the North to Playa Blanca in the South and 25 km from West to East. Finca Tahona is situated in Tiagua which is right in the heart of the island, within easy reach of most places.
