Location

Finca Tahona is situated in the rural village of Tiagua, as you can see on our map, we are centrally located in Lanzarote.

You want to remain on the LZ-20 heading towards Tinajo, passing by the Monumento al Campesino and through the village of Tao. As you begin the descent from Tao into Tiagua, look for the pizzeria restaurant on the left, and take the next exit on the right, turning immediately right into Calle Rayco, at the junction turn right and park on the left. Welcome to Finca Tahona.

Tiagua

The village of Tiagua is part of the municipality of Teguise, which was the old capital of Lanzarote. There's an interesting history to the village which is best understood by visiting the Museo Agrícola El Patio, a farmer's museum dating back to 1845 which is full of fascinating exhibts from one of the main agricultural farms in Lanzarote.

Finca Tahona is only a minute's walk from the Supermercado Tiagua which makes it really easy to pop to the shop to buy local & fresh produce, this popular supermarket includes a butcher's counter and freshly baked goods, almost on the doorstep. Traditional Canarian cuisine can be enjoyed at Restaurante El Tenique situated at the crossroads in Tiagua and the best pizzas are just across the road at Meson Tiagua to eat in or take away.

Ten Minutes Away

You can reach the following places of interest within a 10 minute drive of Finca Tahona:

Famara

The Playa de Famara is a fabulous beach for surfing, around 6km in length and nestling under the dramatic Risco de Famara cliffs, this is an impressive beach. The local village Caleta de Famara has a plethora of surf & kite schools where you can hire kit and book lessons to enjoy the waves. This isn't a beach for swimming, it's best to head for the East coast and holiday resorts for sunbeds & pedaloes.

La Villa de Teguise

The old capital has a castle, now home to the pirate museum. The cobbled streets in this historic town have some beautiful buildings, housing some wonderful tapas bars and home to the massive Sunday market.

La Santa

A fishing village where commercial boats still depart on a regular basis and a great place to enjoy some local fresh fish. Just along from the village is the huge sports holiday complex Club La Santa. Experienced surfers should check out El Quemao, especially during the winter months.

Mancha Blanca

The annual pilgrimage to La Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores takes place in mid September, with locals walking from around the island to the church in Mancha Blanca in honour of the island's patron saint and in remembrance of the volcanic eruptions. There's also a weekly farmer's market here every Sunday.

La Geria

Lanzarote's wine region is something to behold, vines are dug down deep into volcanic pits, which look like craters on the moon from a distance. The wine growing process is very labour intensive in Lanzarote, the pruning and harvesting is all completed by hand. There are currently 15 bodegas within easy reach of Finca Tahona.

Timanfaya National Park

Lanzarote endured six years of volcanic eruptions from 1730 to 1736, as well as a smaller one near Tiagua in 1824. There is a visitors centre called the Montañas del Fuego or Fire Mountains situated within the National Park area of Timanfaya, although our volcanoes are classed as dormant, the temperature here just 10 metres below the ground has a temperature of 600°C. Visitors can see bushes placed in a pit just burst into flames, geysers shoot up into the air and chicken cooked on the biggest BBQ powered by volcano.
